Delight in the full range of Heath Robinson’s talents from the witty and playful drawings that made him famous to the dreamy landscapes he painted in his spare time.

Intending to become a landscape painter, William Heath Robinson earned his living as an illustrator and creator of comic drawings. He is best known for his humorous drawings of intricate gadgetry and also his gentle satirical pieces during the war which made him popular both at home and on the front.

This exhibition also displays beautiful illustrations he made for editions of Shakespeare and Charles Kingsley’s The Water-Babies, and the exquisite watercolour landscapes that, true to his original dream, he painted throughout his life.
