The largest open submission exhibition of contemporary art in the world.

Now in its 249th year, the RA Summer Exhibition offers a unique and immediate insight into what the contemporary art world looks like right now.

Open to all artists, it encompasses exciting work in every media from painting, sculpture and printmaking to photography, architecture and film. This year, for the first time, it will also include an element of performance art.

As an international showcase for established and emerging artists alike, it attracts a huge volume of entrants each year. 12,000 entries were received in 2016, with 5,000 works sold during the exhibition and £50,000 awarded in prizes.
