Now in its ninth year, the annual prize rewards the best in architecture, digital, fashion, furniture, graphic, product and transport design

Among the nominated projects for 2016 are the last David Bowie album cover, a robot surgeon and a drinkable book. The new Tate Modern Switch House has also been nominated, as has the SH:24 online STI testing kit and the redesign for the Norwegian Passport.

The shortlist includes several designs that have risen from the challenges of the refugee crisis. The Ikea Foundation's design for a flatpack refugee shelter, an online experience providing insight into the lives of Syrian refugees and an icon based instructional for refugee first aid kits all feature.
