Out of the Frame: Scottish Abstraction
4 November 2016 – 23 April 2017
Free to all
Exploring the work of Scottish artists who have experimented with abstraction.
Emerging as a style in the early 20th century, abstraction gave artists the opportunity to explore colour, form and means of expression in new and innovative ways.
Since then it has become a central stream of modern art and has been embraced by creatives all over the world.
On display here are works by the Scottish artists who have delved into the abstract, including Wilhelmina Barns-Graham and Calum Innes.
The exhibition also presents the gallery's major new acquisition by Victoria Morton.
