Roy Lichtenstein

Wolverhampton Art Gallery

22 October 2016 – 26 February 2017

This exhibition celebrates the work of one of the most famous and influential Pop Art figures of the 20th century.

Roy Lichtenstein, Reflections on Girl, 1990

Lichtenstein is famous for his comic strip-based work as well as advertising images coloured with his instantly recognisable Benday dots. With fervent faith to the techniques and materials he used, Lichtenstein brought visually striking works to the public that challenged the way images spread through our existence.

Don't miss

Lichtenstein’s Purist Painting with Bottles (1975), which was acquired in the late 1970s from Waddington Galleries in London. The painting shows bottles, a cocktail glass and other shapes in a Purist style, referring to the 20s Purist movement that aimed to make new art appropriate for the machine age.
