The exhibition brings together a diverse selection works on paper that were created between the late 18th century and the present day.

From rough sketches to finely detailed drawings, atmospheric pastel studies to delicate watercolours, this exhibition reveals the incredible variety of works on paper that have been created over the past 250 years. As well as paying testament to the range of creative practices, it also examines individual working processes – such as methods particular to etching and sketching – in more depth.

Drawn entirely from the City Art Centre's permanent collection of historic and contemporary Scottish art, the display features works by Anne Redpath, Joan Eardley, Eduardo Paolozzi and Paul Sandby, as well as that of lesser-known artists.
