Exploring the connecitons between the artist's work and pieces in the museum's collection.

A playwright, poet, academic, teacher and artist, Alasdair Gray has been described by Will Self as 'a creative polymath with an integrated politico-philosophic vision'. Themes that distinguish his work include realism, fantasy and science fiction.

Here works by artists that inspired Gray – including William Blake, Aubrey Beardsley and Paul Gauguin – feature alongside drawings, prints and paintings by artists, who have in turn, been influenced by Gray’s art.

The exhibition is part of a city-wide celebration of the artist at 80.
