A display of the artist's cycle of wall texts from the ARTIST ROOMS collection.

Weiner's work resonates with Woodhorn’s historic colliery setting. His texts – which read 'daubed with muck and wire, fire and brimstone in a hollow formed by hand' – draw parallels with the physical processes of mining. But they can also be seen to relate to the wider history of the coal fields, from the rousing slogans that were displayed on mining banners or the often baffling industry-specific signage that features in the colliery buildings.
