Exploring Second World War spycraft through codes, disguises, camouflage and gadgets.

The Horrible Histories 'Spy Rat' in disguise

Second World War spies and their secret schemes are the focus of this exhibition, based on Terry Deary’s bestselling series.

Real objects that were used by Second World War spies are on display from the IWM collection, brought to life by an interactive ‘stamper trail’ that sees visitors cracking codes, donning disguises and using fake feet.

The display reveals a range of unusual trivia – from how exploding rats were used to sabotage German factories to what secret agents carried in their suitcases.

Horrible Histories: Spies originally opened in July 2013, but was closed temporarily during the IWM London rennovation.
