Exploring paintings from the Society of Antiquaries of London's collection.

Founded in 1707, the society has been collecting paintings since the 18th century, most acquired as gifts or bequests from fellows. The most significant was a collection of 15th- and 16th-century historical portraits bequeathed in 1828 by Thomas Kerrich. It includes many British monarchs, with possibly the earliest surviving version of a portrait of Richard III and a portrait of Mary I by Hans Eworth, which are on display here.
