An exhibition of light sculptures, large-scale textile paintings and films exploring notions of reality, ritual and mysticism.
Dawood’s artistic investigations are rooted in his own heritage and life experience, as well as his deep desire to encourage communication between people of different cultures.
Towards the Possible Film, was shot in Morocco in a landscape reminiscent of an alien planet. Inspired by the many wars fought in the 1950s and 60s between Spain, Morocco and the independent Saharan tribes, the film sees otherworldly figures appear as if to threaten the peace.
Other works include a second video exploring Masonic rituals in Canada, a series of light sculptures inspired by the transformation of the soul and paintings on textiles that were stitched by women in Pakistan during the 1970s.
