June Russell: Being There

Cartwright Hall Art Gallery

6 August 2013 – 9 February 2014

Russell's contemporary prints are always about places – either real, imagined or a mixture of the two.

After training at Bradford College, Russell set up her own studio and began producing contemporary prints based on her observations and drawings.

Subjects that pique her interest include the domestic city scene, urban landscapes and roadscapes, walls, hedges, paths and power lines, and pockets of secret woodland within cities.

She uses a wide variety of printmaking methods, both relief and intaglio, though prefers drypoint and etching.
