Art of Change: New Directions from China
7 September – 9 December 2012
Radical Chinese artists from the 1980s to the present come to the South Bank for this landmark exhibition of contemporary art.
Art for Change is the first major exhibition dedicated to installation and performance art from China. Ranging from live silk worms to a thrashing hosepipe, the pieces on display are united in their exploration of volatility and transience - fundamental concepts in Eastern philosophy and aesthetics.
The exhibition focuses on how artists explore notions of transformation, from physical works in traditional media to performance pieces. Featured artists include Chen Zhen, Yingmei Duan, Gu Dexin and MadeIn Company.
