Rising to prominence for his fashion photographs, Cecil Beaton became Britain's longest-serving World War II photographer. Following his commission by the Ministry of Information in July 1940, Beaton's travels took him to the Middle East, India, China, Burma and throughout Britain, and his eye for beauty in adversity brought a unique perspective to the war.
