Don't miss

Cadell's Portrait of a Lady in Black dating from c 1921 uses crisp, bold tones that are typical of his post-war style. The model is is Bertha Hamilton Don-Wauchope, someone the artist painted regularly, and the mauve-coloured walls place the scene in the artist's studio in Ainslie Place, Edinburgh. The work was part of the Robinson bequest of 75 works that were distributed among 16 museums in Scotland through the Art Fund in 1989.
