This 'In Focus' display of the paintings of John Craxton is part of the BP British Art Displays at Tate Britain.

The work of John Craxton (1922"2009) is perhaps best described as Arcadian. He predominantly painted the people and landscape of Crete and Greece, and his clear artistic voice shows a sophisticated understanding of the work of artists including Blake, Picasso, Masson and Graham Sutherland.Thumb: John Craxton, Still life with Cat and Child, John Craxton/DACS 2010
