Neapolitan and Spanish Drawings from the Baroque
19 February – 15 May 2011
The magnificent Christ Church gallery hosts an exciting exhibition of some hidden treasures.
This exhibition will introduce the least known group of old master drawings from Christ Church, which boasts a strong collection, especially of Italian art from the fourteenth to the eighteenth centuries. The twenty nine drawings on display will offer a glimpse into the wide range of Neapolitan draughtsmanship, including works by Jusepe de Ribera, Salvator Rosa and Luca Giordano. It offers therefore, a great opportunity to examine the development of the style of drawing in Naples through the Baroque period.
