In the run-up to VJ Day this weekend, which marked the end of World War II, archaeo-historian Daisy Hughes repeats her 'wartime walk' around the town. What and where did people eat in the days of rationing? Why was Macclesfield so important to the war effort, and what was the Monkey Run? What happened when war broke out, and where did the nearest bomb fall? Join Daisy as she tours the town in her tin hat, pointing out wartime landmarks and giving you a glimpse of 1940s life. It's an easy walk of 60-90 minutes. Our penultimate stop is the Picturedrome, where you can leave us for lunch if you prefer.
