A 40 minute trip on our Bryan Donkin boat, departing from our front entrance in Fourdrinier Way. The boat travels down the River Gade to meet the Grand Union Canal, turns, and returns to Frogmore Paper Mill.
Our storyteller will read a number of picture book stories, with a Summer or wildlife theme. Most suitable for children aged 4 to 8 years, who can join the storyteller at the front of our boat, on our giant beanbags. Chairs will be provided for accompanying adults.
Along the way we will be able to wildlife spot and if we can, feed some to the waterbirds. This stretch of chalk river is extremely healthy, with a wealth of creatures to spot (if they are willing), including: heron, kingfisher, ducks, geese, swans, egret and sometimes the cormorants and terns. We have newly re-introduced water voles living in the riverbanks and many fish and crayfish.
These trips are very popular and all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Booking is essential and ticket sales cut off at 11pm on the evening prior to the trip date. There are two small steps, with a handrail for getting in and out of the boat. The boat has roof and side covers in the event of rain.
