Discover more about the fascinating women featured in our current exhibition, Botanical Women with curator Katie Childs on a special evening tour, and sit down for a botanical supper inspired by the delights of spring.
Botanical Women explores the bright and resourceful women whose groundbreaking work contributed to the advancement of botany and plant science. From illustrators to hostesses, writers to weeders, women have played a crucial role in the popularisation of horticulture from as early as the 17th century, but have often been hidden from public knowledge.
This exhibition brings these fascinating figures back into the public consciousness and includes many items on display for the first time, including Elizabeth Blackwell's fascinating and beautiful work A Curious Herbal (1737-39), the first herbal produced by a woman.
Once your tour has concluded, you will take a seat and enjoy a delicious botanical supper.
