Leicester International Music Festival presents Nicholas Daniel on the oboe and Huw Watkins on piano.

LIMF’s Artistic Director Nicholas Daniel joins pianist and composer Huw Watkins for the opening concert of Nicholas’s 60th birthday weekend. Both recently received Queen's honours, marking their distinguished contribution to Britain’s musical life.

Whilst, Nicholas Daniel needs little introduction to his devoted Leicester audience, Huw is making his first visit: he has composed works for some of the world’s major orchestras and most illustrious soloists as well as appearing regularly as a pianist in chamber groups and holding the position of Honorary Research Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music.

In their varied programme for this concert, Nicholas and Huw will play a number of specially written works by British composers alongside favourite pieces by Mozart and Poulenc.

  • W A Mozart: Sonata in F, K376
  • Huw Watkins: Five Welsh Folksongs
  • Errollyn Wallen/Eleanor Alberga/Hannah Kendall:
  • Three Birthday Cards for ND (World Premières)
  • Helen Grime: Three Miniatures
  • Francis Poulenc: Oboe Sonata
