Find out more about self-organising and curating exhibitions with Vickie Fear, Curator/Programme Manager at Aspex.
For many artists self-organising and curating exhibitions with peers and friends can be one of the most effective ways to show work, make new connections and get valuable feedback.
For our first 'pay what you can’ workshop, Vickie will talk through some of the considerations for delivering visual art projects, such as fundraising, marketing and interpretation, and answer questions from the online audience.
Vickie Fear has been Curator/Programme Manager at Aspex since 2019. During the last two years she has managed the programme of exhibitions, offsite activities and digital commissioning, including the recent launch of 'I stand for language. I speak for history. I shout for truth.' with Heather Peak and Ivan Morison. She also worked on Ambition for Excellence funded projects in Plymouth and Cornwall, and was one of the founding directors of CAMP (Contemporary Art Membership Plymouth).
Alongside her role at Aspex Vickie works freelance as a curator and producer; most recently Vickie worked with OSR Projects on the Od Arts Festival: Alone with Everybody, one of the first in-person visual art events to take place following the lifting of England's Covid-19 restrictions in May 2021.
Please note, this session will not be recorded and published online. Donations made through Art Tickets for this workshop will help us to develop Aspex's Artist Support programme.
A Zoom link will be sent by email in advance of the workshop to everyone who has booked.
