In conjunction with the Sir Joseph Banks Society, we are pleased to offer a series of four lectures.

11 October:
The China World of Joseph Banks: James Lind, Whang at Tong, and the Macartney Embassy, 1775–1800 by Jordan Godman, Honorary Research Associate in the Department of Science and Technology Studies at University College London.

12 October:
Sir Joseph Banks and His Medical World by Dr Patrick Kaye.

13 October:
Remembering Sir Joseph in the 21st century by Lord Waldegrave, Patron, Sir Joseph Banks Society.

14 October:
Agrarian to Industrialist – Joseph Banks and the ‘promotion and improvement of manufactures of this country’ taken from a quote by John Wallace 1787 by Paul Scott, trustee and curator, Sir Joseph Banks Society.

Opening times

The museum is open from 11am to 5pm Mon-Sun. Last admission 4.15pm. Booking is encouraged to avoid disappointment but tickets can be purchased at the door if we have spaces free.

The herb garden is open all year with free access - please observe social distancing in our small garden

We have decided to maintain social distancing and other mitigation measures, including reduced capacity and face mask use (unless exempt) until otherwise announced, in accordance with industry best practice and guidance issued by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions. We also have a one way system in place in the museum.
