This event has now passed, find out what else is going on at RWA (Royal West of England Academy)

Explore the use of colours in the style of the impressionists and learn to create an overall atmosphere using the interplay of colours between objects.

Cezanne claimed that "painting is recording colour sensation". Following this concept, learn to apply hues in their purest form, without softening or attaching boundaries to the shapes. Analyse light and its effect on composition and apply this to create a still life using acrylic and pastels on paper.

All basic materials are provided for this workshop, although we recommend bringing your own brushes if you have them. Please bring an apron or wear clothes suitable for an art studio. You may also wish to consider bringing a plastic bag in which to take wet work home with you.
