This is a 4- week course exploring the work of American artists Lois Dodd and Alex Katz with a focus on their summer landscapes inspired by the North American state, Maine.
In the first two sessions we will start by looking at Dodd and Katz’s work and discuss and analyse their styles and subject matter.
We will experiment with their distinctively minimal approach to depicting the world around them, their decisive brush marks and use of thin oil paint.
In the final two sessions we will develop our own composition in response to their styles from our own source material.
This course will take place on Zoom.
