Make natural dyes from food waste and learn about fabrics and sustainability. Take home your hand dyed fabric and the skills to create more.

Jordan Maxwell, founder of SALT Textiles, guides this morning workshop offering a chance to reconnect with the magic of plants and their natural colours. Since the introduction of synthetic dyes over 100 years ago, the use of natural dyes has almost disappeared . You'll be introduced to the basics of natural dyeing and how you can use simple botanical and food based dyes at home.

Over the morning we'll cover:

- How to make dye matter from plant and food waste

- Non-toxic modifiers

- Knowledge about fabrics

- A basic home dyeing practice

- Aftercare

We'll be experimenting with bundle dyeing techniques to explore patterns and colour in our samples. You'll go home with knowledge about the history of natural dyes, practical guidance and your own natural dyed cloth.

* This workshop is open to all abilities and ages, you need no experience just curious hands.

* All your materials are included.

Notes:

Guests are asked to bring a re-useable waterproof bag.

Any allergies to be passed over to the event organiser 48 hours before.
