This study day, led by art-history tutor Carlo Corsato, considers Renaissance society and its ideals through the lens of the works of artists and master craftsmen, in particular Leonardo da Vinci and his contemporaries, including Sandro Botticelli, Giovanni Bellini, Michelangelo, Raphael and Titian.

Running successful ‘firms’ (botteghe), these artists competed for commissions from a wide clientele. The day explores how they practised their arts, promoted themselves, and combined Christianity with Classical Antiquity in a way that laid the foundation stones of modernity.
