Learn to embroider a keepsake map of London with Ekta Kaul at the inspiring studio of Lord Leighton.

About this Event

You will learn a vocabulary of fundamental embroidery stitches and how to use these to embroider an original London map created by the award-winning artist. You can add your favourite locations or routes and create something truly personal for yourself or for a loved one.

The class is suitable for all levels, and beginners are welcome. All materials and use of tools in included.

Please note that doors will open at 9:30am for an exclusive Private View of the museum while it is closed for the public; tea, coffee and biscuits will be served on arrival (until 10am)

About Ekta Kaul

Ekta Kaul is an award-winning textile artist based in London. Her artistic practice focuses on exploring places, histories and belonging through stitched maps. Ekta is also a highly experienced educator and regularly undertakes lectures, workshops and public participatory projects working in collaboration with galleries, museums and Heritage sector charities.

She has received awards from the Crafts Council and the Arts Council, England and was the finalist of the Jerwood Maker’s Open prize 2019 and the Guildhall Artist Residency 2019. Ekta works from her studio at Cockpit Arts in Bloomsbury, London.
