This is a joint event with Plant Heritage Guernsey. Garden historian Caroline Holmes celebrates the extraordinary voyage of HM Bark Endeavour that left Plymouth on 26 August 1768 heading to Tahiti. The focus of her talk will be on plants discovered in New Zealand and Australia beautfully recorded by botanical artists such as Sydney Parkinson. No less than 30,000 plant specimens were collected, 2,000 species of which 1,400 were unknown.
