Nestling just west of Marble Arch, and owned by the Hyde Park Estate, Connaught Village is home to the only surviving commercial stables in central London, as well as to some iconic post-Second World War developments – including the Royal Lancaster Hotel (completed in 1967) and the dovetailing of modern 1960s houses, paying homage to the earlier Victorian architecture.
This walk, led by Blue Badge Guide Rachel Kolsky, further incorporates film location sires and an array of fascinating residents - potter Lucie Rie, film critic Dilys Powell, Richard Branson and his Student magazine, political activist Olive Schreiner, the site of Delia Smith’s first restaurant job and more. There is something for everyone on this delightful walk.
This is an approximately 2 hour walking event.
Ending place: Connaught Square
