Coleton Fishacre: The House that D'Oyly Carte Built
On 24 September 2019
14:00 until 16:00
Now owned by the National Trust, Coleton Fishacre is a secluded estate which runs down to the sea at Pudcombe Cove, south of Kingswear. Hotel owner and theatre impresario, Rupert D'Oyly Carte and his wife Dorothy bought the property in 1925 and built a light and airy Arts and Crafts House which has a joyful atmosphere. It became their country retreat frequently shared with family and friends. Plants from New Zealand and South Africa are set among the glades and beside the ponds in the RHS-accredited garden. The visit includes guided tours of the house and gardens.
This event has been organised by the Devon Fundraising Committee Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
