Today Tavistock is a World Heritage Site. Originally the site of an influential Benedictine Abbey, after its dissolution the abbey and land were granted to the 1st Earl of Bedford. The visit, kindly facilitated by trustees of the Tavistock Heritage Trust, starts with a talk on the Bedfords: " Mad, Bad and Fascinating to Know". After lunch the visit continues with a guided tour of the ruins of the Abbey and other heritage highlights, before returning for a short talk on the introduction of cream teas to society by the 7th Duchess, followed by a traditional cream tea.

This event has been organised by the Devon Fundraising Committee Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
