Meet in the Town Hall for coffee followed by talks on the life of Sir George Newnes and the history of the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway and current plans to extend it. George Newnes was a publisher who made his fortune from the magazine Titbits, founded Country Life and developed colour printing. Although MP for East Cambridgeshire he had a great love for Lynton and Lynmouth and paid for the Town Hall, the Funicular Cliff Railway and the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. After free time for lunch there will be a ride on the railway.

This event has been organised by the Devon Fundraising Committee Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
