Antony Gormley and the Young British Artists: A Lecture from Jackie Parry
On 3 July 2019
14:00 until 16:30
Antony Gormley is widely acclaimed for his sculptures, installations and public artworks and has exhibited all over the world. Perhaps his best known works in England are 'Angel of the North' in Gateshead and 'Another Place' on the beach at Crosby. This lecture by Jackie Parry from the Open University will explore his life and work setting it in the context of 20th century sculpture and the Young British Artists.
There is also a forthcoming major exhibition of the works of Antony Gormley set to open in September 2019 at the Royal Academy of Art and so this lecture, although not directly related to the exhibition, will be an excellent introduction to the man and his work. The upcoming exhibition is only the second time that the whole of the gallery space at the RA has been given over to the work of a living British artist.
This event has been organised by the Sussex Fundraising Committee Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
