Unconscious Landscape - Works from the Ursula Hauser Collection
For the first time outside of Switzerland 70 works from the personal collection of Ursula Hauser, co-founder of Hauser & Wirth, bring together a remarkable overview of late 20th century and contemporary female artists.
The visit begins with an introductory welcome from a director followed by a guided tour of the exhibition and landscaped garden.
Lunch is included and is in the delightful Roth Bar & Grill in the same building. Two courses of sharing platters, surrounded by original paintings.
Hugh Sexey's Hospital in Bruton High Street was founded in 1638 to care for twelve poor elderly men and twelve women. Buildings have been added over the centuries, including the 17th century Grade 1 listed chapel.
The afternoon starts with a talk on the history of Sexey's, followed by a tour of the Chapel and exterior of the almshouses, then a guided walk through the gardens which provide flowers, fruit and vegetables for the Hospital.
Bruton has retained much of its historic centre with back gardens running down to the leat and River Brue. The programme for a summer's day allows time to enjoy the town and its heritage.
