Visit to the V&A Dundee
V & A Dundee
On 20 May 2019
08:00 until 19:00
The first ever dedicated design museum in Scotland and the only other V&A Museums outside of London, attendees are invited to enjoy this exploration of V&A Dundee.
On arrival at noon, a two course lunch will be served in the restaurant (wine available at own expense). At 1.30pm there will be a guided tour of the V&A Highlights which include the magnificent Charles Rennie Mackintosh Oak Room meticulously restored, conserved and reconstructed with support from the Art Fund. If they so wish, attendees can then visit the exhibition Videogames: Design/Play/Disrupt, newly transferred from V&A in London, at their own expense.
There is also the opportunity to visit the neighbouring Discovery Point and Royal Research Ship Discovery which has free entry. RRS Discovery was built in Dundee for the 1901-4 British National Antarctic Expedition. Discovery Point interprets the ship’s history, its expeditions and the men who served on it. Also, there is the opportunity to visit the Verdant Works (£8.75), where one can relive the story of Dundee's Industrial textile heritage in the beautifully refurbished mill, and the two galleries at Dundee Contemporary Arts (free admission).
The private coach will leave at 4.00 pm.
This event has been organised by the Dumfries and Galloway Fundraising Committee Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
