The Edward Burne-Jones exhibition at Tate Britain - some highlights
On 15 January 2019
14:00 until 16:30
The Edward Burne-Jones exhibition, now running at Tate Britain until the 24th February, brings together some 150 paintings, drawings, tapestries and designs for stained glass.
This lecture centres on some of the magnificent paintings from the exhibition and traces Burne-Jones’ art from his Pre-Raphaelite beginnings through to his huge vertical paintings based on Medieval Legends and which were inspired by Renaissance altarpieces he saw in Italy.
The lecture will briefly look at his work in other media, but conclude with an extensive study of his series paintings: the complete Sleeping Beauty Briar Rose Series from Buscot Park and his dramatic work on Perseus and Andromeda.
This event has been organised by the Sussex Fundraising Committee Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
