Two Gems of Sheffield’s:One Hidden, One not so Hidden SOLD OUT
Talk and Tour | The Diamond Building
Wednesday 14 March 2018 - 10:30 until 15:30
In the morning there will be an hour-long visit to The Diamond Building, part of The University of Sheffield's Engineering Department, led by Rob Wooley, lecturer in mechanical engineering. The building was completed in 2015, involving designs by twelve different architects. At a cost of £81 million, the 'Diamond' is the largest ever investment in teaching and learning at the university.
In the afternoon the visit will continue to St. Marie’s Catholic Cathedral in the city centre. Designed in the Neo-Gothic style in 1850 by Matthew Hadfield, there are stained glass windows, with one by A.W.N. Pugin, Victorian tiles and a number of alabaster panels, dating back to the 15th century.
