Piero della Francesca – Modern painter of the Renaissance
Lecture | Menuhin Hall
Tuesday 20 February 2018 - 10:00 until 12:00
Nearly forgotten for centuries, Piero della Francesca’s work strikes us now as very modern in its calm serenity, grave solemnity and stark geometry. Eveline Eaton will trace the oeuvre of this fifteenth-century master of the Renaissance, both in his frescoes and in his panel paintings. The audience will be able to follow the Piero della Francesca trail in Italy and to “see” his paintings in the few museums fortunate to own one of his works.
This event has been organised by the Surrey Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
