Dennis Severs' House 5pm
Private View | Dennis Severs House
Tuesday 28 November 2017 - 17:00 until 17:45
This private visit to the 18th-century house in Spitalfields, adorned in its Christmas decoration and lit by fire and candlelight, offers an unforgettable sensory experience. More than just a time capsule, the house is an intimate and immersive recreation of the lives of a family of Huguenot silk weavers from 1724 to the early 1900s. It was Dennis Severs’ intention that entering his house would feel like passing through the surface of a painting. There are no labels or explanations, but curatorial staff are on hand to answer any questions.
Please note that access to all floors is by a narrow staircase.
This event has been organised by the London Events Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
