Christine Borland - WW1 Art Commission

Talk | Glasgow Museums Resource Centre

Thursday 23 November 2017 - 14:00 until 16:00

In October 2016, internationally acclaimed Scottish artist Christine Borland began a project to research the Glasgow Museums World War One Collection, together with that of the Imperial War Museum, to create a major new commission to be exhibited in Glasgow Museums in Autumn 2018. The project has been funded by 14-18 Now and the Art Fund.

Christine has kindly agreed to share with the group her progress to date and explain which items from the collection have had the most impact in developing her thoughts for the commission. This is a rare opportunity to see behind the artist’s thought process in creating a major new work.

The talk will be at the Glasgow Museums Resource Centre (South Nitshill Industrial Estate, G53 7NN) where the objects are stored

This event has been organised by the Strathclyde Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
