Visit to Durham

Overnight Trip | Durham Cathedral

26 – 27 September 2017 - 09:15 until 18:00

On Tuesday there is a visit to Durham Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in the UK, built between 1093 and 1133. There will be a talk on the collections and in the afternoon a private visit to newly restored Bishop Cosin's library, with talk by Ed Potten.

Wednesday morning, the group will travel by coach for a private visit to Raby Castle, a 14th century fortress, home to Lord Barnard's family since 1626, and then to the celebrated Bowes Museum for lunch and a Curator-led tour of the picture collection. Return to Durham 4.30 pm.

This event has been organised by the Shropshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
