Barrowed Time: opening up the prehistoric archaeology of Lancashire to the world by Dr Ben Roberts

Lecture | Preston Grasshoppers Rugby Club

Monday 18 September 2017 - 10:30 until 12:00

Dr Ben Roberts is an archaeologist at Durham University. He was formerly a Curator at the British Museum where in addition to exhibiting he researched and co-wrote 41 programmes in the British Museum/BBC Radio 4 series and accompanying book A History of the World in 100 Objects.

Dr Ben Roberts will talk about the latest activities and new discoveries of the "Barrowed Time" project. In partnership with DigVentures and the Portable Antiquities Scheme, the project is funded both by the Heritage Lottery Fund and through crowdfunding. It started last year with the discovery of a 4000 year old burial monument and a 3000 year old offering of bronze weapons and ornaments. The excavations are open to anyone to join and use the latest digital recording techniques.

This event has been organised by the Lancashire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
