Coach Visit | Wingfield and West Stow, Suffolk

Thursday 14 September 2017 - 09:00 until 18:30

Travelling by coach from Cambridge and Ely, we will visit Fuller’s Mill, West Stow. Here the Head Gardener will take us on a tour of the beautiful gardens on the banks of the River Lark which have been created by Bernard Tickner, its owner, over 50 years..

After lunch at the Hoxne Swan, a 15th Century building formerly the residence of the Bishops of Norwich, Peter Bloore, Senior Lecturer in Creativity at UEA and also the owner of Wingfield College, will talk to us in the parish church about the unique history of Wingfield College. We shall then be taken through the Georgian facade, which conceals the rare buildings of a chantry college, for a tour of what has now become his home. Tea will be served before our departure.
