Visit to Houghton Lodge and Garden
Talk and Tour | Houghton Lodge
Wednesday 6 September 2017 - 11:00 until 15:45
Dating from the 1790’s Houghton Lodge is the finest surviving example of the ‘cottage ornee’. Built on the banks of the River test near Stockbridge in Hampshire, it shows all the decorative elements of the style and within there are contents of the greatest interest, including the circular Music Room with a unique chimney piece made of Blue John.
The group will be guided by the owner and also accompanied by architectural historian Roger White. After lunch there will be the opportunity to look at the charming garden.
This event has been organised by the Dorset Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
