Private View | Capheaton Hall
Wednesday 28 June 2017 - 14:00 until 16:00
This is a rare opportunity to see an impressive collection of art-works including a magnificent portrait of Charles l by Van Dyke, given to John Swinburne the first baron by Charles ll and a wonderful collection of cartoons by Giovanni Piranesi. In the 18th century J E Swinburne presided over the most exciting and progressive period in the history of Capheaton. He was a great patron of the arts and first President of the Literary and Philosophical Society of Newcastle. His family were encouraged to draw and paint, and much of their work can still be seen.
This event has been organised by the Northumberland Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
