The Fitzrovia Chapel
Visit and Talk | Meet at the chapel
Tuesday 30 May 2017 - 11:00 until 12:30
This magnificent Grade II building was designed as part of the Middlesex Hospital by the celebrated Revivalist architect, JL Pearson in 1891 and completed posthumously by his son. The hospital no longer exists, however the chapel has been superbly preserved and restored. One of the most striking features is the beautiful and ornate golden mosaic ceiling of the chancel, which was completed between 1897 and 1901. It was installed by Italian craftsmen using imported materials, as was much of the subsequent decoration of the building. Experience a private visit and talk by the chief conservation architect who supervised the restoration.
This event has been organised by the Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
