Houses and gardens of Normandy
Lecture | Preston Grasshoppers Rugby Football Club
Tuesday 9 May 2017 - 10:00 until 11:45
Helen McCabe read French at university and studied history of art and architecture at the Ecole du Louvre in Paris. This lecture discusses a wide range of architecture from 15th,16th and 17th century Chateaux to quirky seaside villas in Deauville and Trouville built for the rich under the Second Empire, and an Arts and Crafts house at Varengeville (Le Bois des Moutiers) built by Lutyens with a garden by Jekyll.
Other gardens include formal parterres, avenues of beech and lime, potagers laid out with fruit, vegetables and flowers, rose gardens, Monet’s Giverny and two contemporary gardens.
This event has been organised by the Lancashire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
