Sheffield city sculpture walk - Sold out

Talk and Tour | Fitzalan Square

Saturday 22 April 2017 - 10:30 until 12:30

A guided tour around Sheffield city centre to look at the wealth of sculpture in the city, inspired by post-war optimism. Starting with Alfred Drury's statue of Edward VII in Fitzalan Square, a significant work of pre-first world war sculpture, before moving on to look at later works such as William Mitchell's mural on Burgess Street, which the Twentieth Century Society put forward for possible listing.

The walk will take about two hours and will be led by Art Fund member Kathryn Barnes, who has previously led Friends' tours round Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

An option is to lunch at Bill's Restaurant in Paul's Place, near the Peace Gardens, after the walk.

This event has been organised by the South Yorkshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
