From Braque to Bed, by Patrick Bade
Talk | Royal Over-Seas League
Monday 28 November 2016 - 15:00 until 16:00
Twentieth-century art changed more rapidly and radically than ever before, reflecting the period’s turbulent politics and accelerating technological progress. In the first half of the century major movements such as Cubism, Surrealism Expressionism and Dada followed in quick succession. Artists are still working through the movements’ radical ideas today. Patrick Bade charts this progress to demonstrate how Tracey Emin’s My Bed evolved from a scrap of paper stuck on a canvas by Braque in 1912.
